Re: Living together before Marriage... yes or no? 2be: Forgot to add that I lived together with my X for years before we were married, as well. I think it is important in that you TRULY get to know someone. When you live apart, it's too easy to just pick up and leave when things get bumpy.
Only when you can stick it out, be together all the time and be able to work things out, do you know if it is the real deal.
Re: Living together before Marriage... yes or no? katelyn: Eh.. I just don't think it really makes a difference. I think it's a way to think you're protecting yourself.

if you love someone you're either committed or you're not - and if they leave the toothpaste in the sink and their underwear on the floor, it shouldn't change that.

It shouldn't but it does. No matter how great a woman is... if she was an absolute pig at home I wouldn't do it. Domestic compatibility is extremely important and no matter how committed or loving you are with your SO... after years of them leaving Colgate on the counter with it's cap off... it WILL start to drive you nuts.
Re: Living together before Marriage... yes or no? katelyn: Well, wouldn't you be able to tell that by visiting her home? Yeah she might keep it clean the first few months when you visit but if she's a pig it will show eventually.
I just think there are better ways to know than just shacking it and giving it a 'test drive'.

Yes, you can tell by visiting the home. I do'nt want to come across like I'm thinking it is a "test drive." When I do it, I am committed. I take it just as seriously as marriage. I guess I was just curious if people had religious "sinful" objections to it.
