Re: Getting a raise was a good thing? 2be: Nope no alimony or anything!  So I"m dreading April right now.
Re: Getting a raise was a good thing? allilm: You could try to go on and calculate how much you're going to owe and break it down over your remaining month till April and either put it aside or send it in once a month, so it won't be a huge blow come April.  Or you could do everything possible that could give you a deduction before now and then (buy a home).

Re: Getting a raise was a good thing? shockedandamazed: Yep - I hear you! Ex left me, no regard for financial sitch, thank the sweet baby jesus I have always worked. My bi-weekly paycheck went down by about 150 bucks, so I increased my withholding to '3' to bring me back up. But I also own the house we had together and just bought another condo this year. So if you can...go buy a house in the next two months....
Re: Getting a raise was a good thing? Deadinside: Not to be a negative nelly, but if he buys a house in the next couple of months it won't do him any good this year.  You can only deduct the interest paid this year, there isn't enough time to pay that much interest to get you over your standard deduction before year end.  The advise to calculate what you owe and start saving now is probably your best bet.

Re: Getting a raise was a good thing? bluskygrl: Sorry, that does bite.

I found out in February when I did my taxes that he had barely paid into taxes and I paid in a ton, so if we had been divorced before the end of the year he would have had to pay and I would have gotten twice the refund! As it is we split it....

I have adjusted, plus I keep the house and the 2 adorable deductions!

I hope it all washes out okay for you 2 be!
