Re: How Men Deal?? 2be: Yeah, I'm not so sure about this. I feel like I dealt with my emotions in a much more healthy way than my Xwife did.  I do think that there is a social-related pressure on men to not show their emotions and in my opinion, cause a lot of problems.

I think the only socially accepted emotion men can show is anger.  So you see a lot of men dealing with their pain by raging.

Well, I didn't say they didn't deal with them, I said they didn't deal with them as "effectively" as women do.[/quote">

That's how I took it actually, and my response would be the same as I noted above.  Some women simply do not deal and go psycho or self destruct, and some guys crack and go psycho or self destruct.  I'd wager in about equal numbers.

We're allowed to be happy too.  :)

I think you can repress everything and be unhealthy, or you can let out every single thing that crosses your emotional radar and frankly I think that's unhealthy as well.  There has to be balance.

Balance is key.  I agree.  It was my common practice to just let it all out emotionally.  I think I got this way only because I stopped my other forms of expression.  But that's all speculation.  I don't need other forms of expression for regulation, per se.

Ok, like I said.  I agree.
Re: How Men Deal?? 2be: Oh absolutely I agree. Happiness is included.  I was just trying to say that overall in our society, men are "allowed" to be angry because it is a "manly" way of expressing. While crying is generally relegated to women.  Men aren't encouraged to cry as it is a sign of weakness.
