Re: Lidle crashes a plane, begs the question Lumpy:   It's kinda funny but listening to some of the guys who played with him, I'm getting the impression he wasn't a very likable guy. He played with the A's for awhile and all the guys they interviewed had very little to say about him. His GM in Philly was quoted as saying "I guess he was an okay guy." Not exactly a shining endorsement.

THANK YOU.

Yes - perspective!

Re: Lidle crashes a plane, begs the question nn: Yeah, I saw that, too.  Lidle still is above them on cnn.com.

That's kind of my point...

Obviously you didn't get a logic or analysis course in college because I said "most people I know".  See, you can't know what I know, only I can, so it's a statement that only I can test the veracity of.

Ah yes! The disclaimer. Funny how there is always one after a person is called on their generalizations.

Who is lamenting? Only every major news outlet for the last three days.  Of course, we barely know the names of the people who died because he went for that joy ride.  I'm just f#cking sick of hearing about how sad it is, how his family might not get their 1.5 million union payout, etc, etc.

An airplane crashed into a building! In NY city, with terrorism on the mind of every American since 9/11. Whether it was Lidle or not, this still would have been a big deal on all the news channels.   We'd still be hearing about it three days later.

Some of you obviously have some hot-button issues surrounding
- college degrees
- intelligence
- sports (and being a beefcake)
- flying
[/quote">

My hotbutton are bs generalizations  such as  one who does not have a college degree is not going to be intelligent. Frankly..I know plenty of people who are college educated, but when it comes to common sense and life smarts..they are as stupid as the day is long. College education gives you skills for specific life paths and vocations. It does nothing for you in terms of common sense, logic and reasoning.

and that my main beef was that some rich guy is getting lamented because he's rich and dead -- Christ, at least John Denver left something for humanity...

Again. Given the circumstances and what happened in NY 5 years ago, it is likely that this would still be front page news regardless of who was driving the plane.
