Bad PMS depression tygerseye04: Hi everyone,
This post is to both men and women--women who have experience with Pre-menstrual depression and the men who may have noticed that in their girlfriends/wives.
So--I get pretty depressed before I get my period. About a week before I get it, the depression hits and all I want to do is cry. I will feel the urge to cry even if I can't find my shoes. And the fact that I want to cry over such pathetic things makes me feel even more pathetic, just making me want to cry more.
So does anyone have experience dealing with pre-menstrual depression? Do you know what to do about it? I am taking up running marathons, so I think the exercise may help, but any recommendations for diet? The drinking water business doesn't seem to work...any superfoods out there?
Re: Bad PMS depression PennyLane: You need to talk to your doctor about this. Exercise is good and diet.
I gotta admit, I may get a tad moody but nothing extreme.
Re: Bad PMS depression kitkat: I don't have a problem with it but a good friend of mine does. It's called "premenstrual dysphoric disorder". She's on a mild does of anti-depressants and they've been doing wonders for her.
Re: Bad PMS depression Mooneyes: I have this problem. I haven't found a way to regulate it right now. I try to exercise, increase calcium, and decrease caffeine.
Re: Bad PMS depression movinon:
Seriously, penny is right... go see your doctor. Some women's hormones can get so out of whack due to their menstrual cycles that they need antidepressants. And don't give up if the first antidepressant doesn't work for you. Different drugs work differently for different people. If you get the right treatment, you will feel sooo much better!
