Re: Bad PMS depression sparks: I had the same problem. I would become so depressed i barely made it out of bed. I would cry from the time I woke up until the time I went to sleep and sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to cry. The doctor didnt diagnose me with PMDD but it was mentioned in our conversation. I was prescribed Zoloft but I only take it during the week before my period. He says it works immediately and believe me...it has. I noticed a huge difference the first week I tried it. Funny thing is when I went to the emergency room one day I was giving my information to the nurse and she starts laughing when I explain my prescription of Zoloft. She laughed and said,"you could be reading my medical file right now. I take an anti depressant during my period too. It takes the edge off and everybody around me gets to live."
Re: Bad PMS depression opal66: I've gone through this in the past. I spoke with my dr and was diagnosed with premenstrual dysphonic disorder. I was given an RX for a light anti-depressant that I take mid-cycle until the first day of my period and it works like a charm.
Good Luck!
