Re: steps toward divorce ChristyM: I think you just need to move to Florida and hang with me on the beach every day, making fun of the English men in speedos and drinking fruity, frosty libations with umbrellas in them.  Of course, that's my answer for everything  :)

I think it really is time for you to let Clammy go.  He's been a great security blanket for you but now he's becoming just a blanket.  He's holding you back M and you know it.  He's doing some serious passive smothering (is that even possible?).

I think your last ditch effort was to try this job situation and now that it's not panning out as you'd hoped ... well ... you just need to do what you know deep down is the answer.  You can spend the next two years mired in "what ifs" and "well, this might happen 30 years from now" but what's the point?  You're missing out on some pretty great things -- both personally and professionally.

Re: steps toward divorce sheydp: You have had some very insightful and introspectful moments here - not just in this post, I mean in general... You think, I think... a lot.  Now, you are starting to head for ACTION.  That can be really scary - especially when you think about it.  You know you are starting to create... create a new life, new work, a new self - BY YOURSELF.  You have been on your own, but you had that safety net, and now although you know you don't need it casting it away is scary.

You are one smart cookie, honey.  I have talked to you enough to know that.  You will be fine, you are smart enough to know that yourself.  You are also courageous, because you are doing what needs to be done in the face of some amount of fear - facing change.  It will be really good, when you have created that new life you love.

Re: steps toward divorce katbuttkid: Topaz, is NYC big enough for both you and Medusa?

I think she should move to Montana, and start climbing mountains!

Am I the only one who loves men in speedos?  Admittedly, my exposure (heh!) to English men in banana hammocks is limited, but my Brazilian side is strong and I always think that American guys look lost in those big ol' shorts they call "swimsuits".

I'm still voting for Medusa in the big apple!  hee hee
