Horrible Opinions of Others. C-Note: Today I'm thinking back on the the first time I met one of my best friend's wife. This is just no ordinary friend. He is one of my life long childhood friends, considered to me and by my family as my brother.
What nerve do I have instantly thinking upon seeing her "Damn. You could have done better."
I know thinking that was totally out of line, but it was my gut reaction. Without even knowing her I had no desire to even try. I know I don't like being prejudged, have assumptions and opinions formed by others about me with no good reason, but I've done it.
Have any of you guys done this?
Re: Horrible Opinions of Others. CDNgurl: C-Note, did she turn out to be a wonderful person?
For me, I find my first impressions tend to hold true. Gut reactions.
My cousin's husband - first thought "CREEP". Turns out I was right.
Re: Horrible Opinions of Others. snkpack: I believe most people are pestiferous so, yeah I can relate.
Re: Horrible Opinions of Others. ibelong2me: I have done it or felt it and I really try not to judge anyone too quickly. But I do believe that first impressions are everything so if you have that gut feeling that the person is one way or the other it's probably true. I've been wrong before though :)

What brought this up for me today was learning that he has left his wife and has custody of his only son by her. I didn't want to say anything while talkign to him. I just listened and gave him the things will be alright speech. I don't know the details of why they broke up clearly. cause I'm at work and he's at his job, but I'm sure gonna find out the details later tonight.
