My STBX Moved Out Today opal66: My stbx moved out of our house today.....and I can’t quite understand why I'm not upset; I'm not even the littlest bit upset. Perhaps the reality of things (him no longer living here) haven't really hit me yet. After 10 years of marriage and 17 years of living together, it's over. I have this strange wave of calm running over me.
I believe that is due to the fact that I am looking forward to MY future. I am looking forward to no more fights, looking forward to re-connecting with me and my kids, looking forward to moving forward instead of being held back by my stbx and his controlling and verbally abusive ways.
Yesterday I had a very positive session with my therapist. Basically, he told me that I am being very realistic about my impending divorce and I seem to be very grounded. That made me nearly want to do a back flip!!! After listening to my stbx tell me time and time again that this and that is wrong with me, it really made me feel better about myself (and everything in general) to hear my therapist say that. He also told me that leaving my marriage was the only option that I realistically have - since my stbx is not willing to work towards repairing us.
I feel a sense of empowerment!!!! GO ME!

I went through the same when myself and my ex sold and moved apart. At first I felt this freedom and a rebirth of my life. Then the rollercoaster ride started again. So just beware, you are feeling this way now but more than likely you still have some growing pains to get through.
