Sunday Morning Breakfast Rant
.

Sunday Morning Breakfast Rant TarheelMike: So, I went to the store last night.  I've been on a granola bar kick here lately and needed some more.  When I'm in a rush to get out the door in the morning - i.e. every day for the past week - I grab a couple and they are my breakfast.

Anyway, I didn't notice til this morning that the box I grabbed last night said in big letters on the front - which shows you how much guys pay attention when grocery shopping - "25% Less Sugar.  Well, cool.  These will be healthier for me than the ones I HAD been getting.

Bullshit.

These don't have 25% less sugar.  They have 25% less PRODUCT!  Instead of downing one in four bites, these "25% Less Sugar" bars only take three.  They stole one of my four bites - TWENTY FIVE PERCENT!!  Funny, they didn't cost me 25% less at the checkout line.

I'm pissed.  Anybody else fall for this crap?
Re: Sunday Morning Breakfast Rant alonewith2: I fall for the buy 2 get one free deals.  Like I really need 3?!!  :(

Re: Sunday Morning Breakfast Rant Alphabet Girl: I'm a sucker for buying in bulk even though I eat like 1/2 a person, and my two kids eat about the same as 1/2 a person put together. And it isn't just food - right now I have 36 rolls of toilet paper that I am trying to find a spot for!  ::)

And no, I never accidentally buy something that has less sugar in it Tar. I hate foods with artificial sweeteners in them, so I am always making sure that whatever I am buying isn't too healthy!  ;D

If it's ice cream, you do  :D (I have obviously fallen for that one).
Re: Sunday Morning Breakfast Rant yella: Poor Hickboy... there's a trick to that. I'm borderline diabetic... hypoglycemic, actually, so I read all labels. Get to know what the serving size is, and read the total carbs (sugars) on the package, and make your choice there.

Chances are, the items with less fat/sugar are smaller serving sizes, and are more expensive. That's why I don't buy products specifically for that purpose. Just my 2 cents on the matter on not getting sucked in.

You can control your carb/sugar intake just by watching the serving size yourself.  ;) But, yes, tons of people get sucked into that trap.  ::)
