Alright....need advice on how to break up with someone!! shockedandamazed: So - it has been a year since I signed up on Ojar and I haven't posted in quite a while. But, I have been seeing this guy - who, I thought would be just for fun....and well, I realized that I want something more and this guy is not right for me....
So...I am thinking I am going to do it tonight....possibly go meet him for a drink and then just tell him where I stand....it sucks because the guy has been nothing but nice to me, so I really don't have an 'excuse' for a break up other than I see no long term potential with him and his ambition in life nowhere near matches up with my ambition in my life. I met with a fellow Ojarian last night for dinner and his suggestion was to just rip the band-aid off quick....let him say what he needs to say and ask what he needs to ask and then be done with the meeting.
Help, help, help....the last two guys I dated were easy...the one did the infamous fade out with me and the other was too clingy, so it was easier to let him go.
Awright...let me have it!

Some people, though nice, just don't quite match up with goals, personalities, etc. You have every right to let him go. Don't be rude or impolite and let him have time to talk. Tell him the truth. If I were in his position, I'd be much LESS hurt and respect you more if you sat down and talked to me rather than just avoided contact, etc.

Re: Alright....need advice on how to break up with someone!! shockedandamazed: It went fine - almost brought me to tears many times and he did too. We met over coffee and discussed a lot of stuff we never addressed in our relationship. It is sad to see him go, but I really think it is for the best.
