Re: Trading my Briefcase for a Backpack... dwayne73: Well, mine wasn't as drastic an effect. I left my wife (she cheated on me) and moved back home to Canada (I lived in Texas with her for 9 years). I've had a lot of time to think about my life and what happens now. I got to hang around MY family again and it was the best 4 months I've had in a VERY long time. I got to hang around with all my cousins and aunts/uncles. they didn't pester me too much ( a few questions and stories here and there) about my "past" so that was a welcome situation. I've got my life on hold for the moment to get the divorce final. I can't WAIT to move on!! I know I need help emotionally and otherwise (can't afford the trip to New Zealand dude!  j/k), but I'm on the road to recovery.

Congrats on your trip and self rediscovery eh! Thanks for the "experience"!

Sounds like the experience of a lifetime and I'm glad you found yourself out there in the world.  I wish all of us had the means to just drop our lives and book a 6-week vacation.  (Not giving you a hard time at all...) just a bit jealous, I guess!  ;D

ditto.  Kids make that harder too.  Congrats on your experience!
