Yeah, I actually Can't stand psych for the reasons that you mentioned. And because I think healing the mind is much more art than science, and I don't see why it NEEDS to be science to be valid.
I think it's a huge waste of time. but it is helpful in delivering healthcare to patients.
Just got me to thinking.
I don't feel out of place in the dating world... I'm cute, I'm of age, I'm fun... why not? Who wouldn't want to date me?
but I really don't think it's a percursor to a good, healthy, serious relationship, at least not for me.

Great thread but be warned when you take psyc classes that you don't try to become a therapist during the class and "help" your fiends.
I think some of the levels can be half completed in or steps can be made backwards during crisis. Most of this can be phases of maturing and choices people make about their life style. There is very few solver bullets that explain all people.
I know I married too young and have soiled my oats scince the divorce. I am really enjoy being in a commited relationship. I feel out of place in the dating world.

I was married for 17 years. My Ex went crazy around 40 and after a hysterectomy?? spelling.
I prefer to be in a LTR because I love to love. I don't like playing dating games and when I love someone I give 100%. I cook dinner, I buy them gifts, flowers, write them poems, theater, shows, vacations etc..
I invest too much (time, money, energy) to spend on someone that will not love me back. I don't need another notch on my belt. Almost every women I have slept with has told me I have been the best sexual partner they ever had. But, I really don't like to sleep with someone I am not in love with. I have done it a bunch of times and I hate myself for it later.
I love my GF with my heart and my soul. I would kill and be killed for her. It is very simple for me. If we fall out of love then I will date only to find someone like her again. I think about her every night I fall asleep and every morning that I wake up. She completes me and makes me want to be a better person.
