Re: math for men TarheelMike: This isn't the formula for the "perfect age."  It's the formula for how young your significant other can be and still be socially acceptable.  Reverse it if you're dating someone older.  Gender does not matter.

And I may be wrong, but I think it came from a chick show: Sex and the City.
Re: math for men doodlesmore: idunno....i can see why an older guy would date a younger girl this has been somehting most older guys try to do.....it's a challange for them also....but I would admit that I personally right now would NOT date someone younger than me...i am 28....I would have to date someone atleast my age...but i would prefer older. I do not seem to understand guys in their early to mid 20's....I think they act immature and have their priorities all messed up. I prefer somone that has a few brain cells and acts like a gentleman not a caveman.  :P

Yep... my lack of brain cells and caveman-like behavior have REALLY affected MY priority selection and maturity level.  God, I hope I change when I get older.

Oh wait, no I don't.

Oh, well ok, fair enough.

To address that then, I can see where I could gain a lot by forming a LTR with a woman my age, from a maturity standpoint.  There would be a lot of shared history, references, cultural attitudes, etc.  On the other hand there is also the jaded and cynical aspect I see in a lot of *people* my age (note I didn't just say women) that I'm not really sure I wish to deal with any longer on a one on one daily grind basis.  I suppose I know too many divorced people or something, but the attitudes I see are disheartening, to say the least.  There truly is something to be said in a positive sense for a fresh face looking at life with wonder and happiness, and not a resigned, cold hard calculating stare, that attracts me to younger women in general.  Obviously there are exceptions, but if we're shooting the odds here, well, the odds are I'm more likely to find that unbound optimism in a younger rather than older woman.  Keep in mind I'm 39 y/o guy thinking the range would be 25-32-ish, not some 55 year old guy lusting after an 18 year old here.

Does this mean I'd only consider younger women?  Hell no.  Each individual stands on her own merits.  But odds are I'm more likely to meet that happy, uninhibited and optimistic person in a younger woman in a quicker amount of time than I would sifting through the large crowd of angst and anger filled "my age" women.

Thoughts?

I agree with your thoughts and can understand your reasonings.  You want someone without a lot of history carried around as baggage.  Someone who hasn't been molded a certain way yet by life.  However, there are dangers to that type of person, too.  You never know what she'll be like when she's faced with relationship situations or everyday hardships.  But I guess if you're willing to take that chance, more power to you.

;)
Re: math for men C-Note: I think older guys just know how to put on the show better for younger women.  I know when to behave and act like a grown up, but I've noticed that once the ties come off and the beer starts flowing everyman's inner cavedweller bubbles to the surface.

I'm now thinking all all the stuff grown men do that's rooted in imature behavior.

BBQ'ing  hmm playing with fire.. burn baby burn.

Our fascination with balls and the ability to create countless activities playing with them.

Plus don't forget it's you women's fault we act nutty in the first place.  It's scientifically proven maen get stupider around pretty women.  Daaaaaaaa!
