Bizarre update on the divorce Chey: Thankfully I don't have much to post about with my divorce....UNFORTUNATELY it's because I'm about to break some kind of Ojar record for having the longest most drawn out divorce!
I married in the UK, and then when I left my ex I moved back to Canada, and he immigrated to Australia with his "no we never had an affair" girl.
Since then I have been pushing to get this divorce rolling, only to have him push back and refuse to sign until we agreed on a financial seperation first. I refused, back and forth blah blah blah. We're finally at a point (2 years later) where we're about to have our legal seperation.
I get an email from him today. Asking how I am. He tells me he's been diagnosed with diabetes. It's fairly severe, but the one "positive" is that he can no longer drink. He almost wishes he had been diagnosed earlier because it's changed his life and given him the kick in the ass he needed.
And you know what....I didn't feel angry reading it. Or even sad. I was just sort of, interested. Like I was talking to another friend who I hadn't heard from in a long time. He apologised for throwing our marriage away, and thanked me for staying in touch with his children (I'm flying them over for a visit next year).
So all the paperwork has been returned to the lawyer, and our "decree nisi" will be declared soon I hope (our seperation), and then a few months after that we SHOULD be divorced officially. It all feels so bizzare and surreal.
I had to laugh at his closer..."So..if you ever want a souvenier from Australia let me know". Just a divorce :)

Re: Bizarre update on the divorce Spike: So, really Chey, it's not too late to change your mind. Just in case you haven't had enough time yet.
Sorry, had to. At least you are finally there, the pot of gold(so to speak) at the end of the rainbow. Whens the divorce party?
Re: Bizarre update on the divorce alonewith2: Running down the home stretch...end in sight. You must feel some sense of "FINALLY!!" running through your mind!!
If he's offering, I'll take a baby kangaroo, please. ;D
Re: Bizarre update on the divorce HoldingPattern: Hey Chey, I do want a souvenier.....do ya think he could send over the Take Home Chef? I'd just love to get something cooking with that handsom Aussie! Just kidding..... (I think)! Anyway, I'm glad you are finally seeing some closure happening.
Re: Bizarre update on the divorce Chey: LOL 1 baby Kangaroo on order ;)
Yup, home stretch, end in sight, pot at the end of the rainbow...exactly. I feel a lot less anxiety that's for sure. I've signed everything I need to, done all my paperwork, now I just have to wait and see what the judge wants next.
HP....you'll have to fight me for the Take Home Chef ;D 2 things I want in a man, someone who can rub my back and a good cook!
