Re: 90 day waiting period? bamacannon: Yeah oklahoma is 60-90 days and if I read the papers right, theres a mandatory court hearing where I have to appear, even though we have agreed 100% on every single thing in the papers, we both want it(at least now I do) and everything is fine but they are still gonna make me drive across the country, buy a suit(mandatory dress code) and show up in court to say "Yes your honor, she just up and divorced me out of the blue for no discerable reason other than she wanted to be single" What a joke. So yeah, everyone sadly has to do it.

Reminds of the old joke

Why is divorce so expensive?
Cause its worth it!
Re: 90 day waiting period? yella: We have no waiting period to actually file papers; however, you have to take parenting classes before you can file.

After the papers are filed, and you have a pretrial conference, in front of the judge, the divorce is final in 120 days.

Re: 90 day waiting period? clambakesX: 1 yr if uncontested
3 yrs if contested
Re: 90 day waiting period? wings: wow you all are making me feel like 90 days is not so long afterall. but of course 90 days feels like 90 years....  :P

i know I'll get thru it. it's not the waiting that bothers me, it's the hold up of my $$$. !!

Re: 90 day waiting period? alonewith2: In PA, it's 90 days from the day the defendant signs that he/she received the paperwork.  Most lawyers will do the negotiation during the 90 days and hope a settlement is reached by the end of the waiting period.  That is, if the divorce is filed under the "no fault" clause.

If you want to file under a "fault" case, then it's 2 years from the time you can prove you separated.  You can prove separation even if you still live together if you can show separate sleeping quarters, etc, but it's harder to do that I was told.
