People will always make excuses when they want to be with someone else. It is NOT your fault. You tried to make her happy and even admitted that you committed "adultery of the heart".
You tried to make your lives better - funny how I also took a crappy job at a university so that my stbx husband can have his degree - then he runs off with a woman who's 10 years older than us.
Please don't blame yourself for anything. My stbx put all the blame of the world on me when he denied the affair to his family. He said that I was the one who didn't cook, clean, etc, and he's sick of it all.
My take - excuses excuses excuses. All they want is to feel the excitment of the other person.
