I went on a date last weekend and it cost 50+ bucks .....I should have told him to save some money and go to IHOP 8)

Boy, am I going to do it differently next time around. When I was dating in Seattle, before I met my ex-wife, all my first dates were to the best restaraunts in town, and Seattle has many. I think my average first date bill was usually about $300, including cocktails and wine.
Never again, at least on the first dozen dates or so...I'm going to be trying real-life stuff: outings with dogs, kids, bike rides, carnivals, window-shoppping, that kind of stuff with lots of coffee and the occasional cocktail. I want to really get the know the person and save the heavy wining and dining for the final stage of courtship and for the occasional break from reality once we're married.
See, I'm Mr. Optimism. ;D

Gah! that would freak me out. Perhaps puts a bit of pressure? Yes, go for the low key fist. Win the heart with heavy woo-ing after you get to know each other.

I don't think they felt any pressure, most of them were in my tax bracket, so it was pretty much expected, I think.
