I am kind of a tomboy and have A LOT of male friends, so I get to meet a lot of men, but am actually very picky about who I'm really attracted to romantically.
I think I have fallen in love twice in the past ten years. The first breakup was bad. This last one -- worse. I always thought the term "soul mates" was cheesy, but we were. Connection on every level. He always said it was like magic. It was.
Now I'm 30 and have a hard time believing it will ever happen again. I hope, but don't have hope. Does that make sense? I think I would be a LOT less sad if I really believed it will happen.

I know the the hope issue too. You don't want to hope too much because if it does not happen the let down will hurt too much.
So you stay guarded against dreaming and hoping too much.
We are all in the searching for our happiness and that includes loving someone else as deeply as we love them. We need to find the giving love in a healthy, stable, well balanced relationship.
I don't want just a lover, I also want a best friend that I can trust. SOmeone that I will take care of and who would take care of me if something were to happen.
Love is a four letter would that is closer to hate then anything else in my mind sometimes. How can we love someone so much and then a few months later split up and hate each other?
Love is like a warm blanket on a cold night that you never want to leave. When it is taken away you miss it with your heart and soul.
