Thanks man. I'd love to be able to sit on a mountain top and dispense poetic wisdom, but there is a dire shortage of stores that sell beer on mountain tops.

I know where your coming from. I felt that way with my ex, then got divorced. Then felt that way with my new GF and then we had some tough times.
There are three types of love in relationships:
1) Romantic => passion and craziness for each other.
2) Friendship => soul mates that want to help each other find happiness.
3) Self Sacrificing => You give all you have and never require something in return. Gladly lay your life down for another.
Sounds like you miss #1 which is the most unstable. That's the one that puts butterflies in your stomach when you see your lover. I'm trying to get to #2 myself.
It will happen for you.
