Re: Is this too offensive for a signature? Cherry: BOB, you so rock!!!!  And so does your son.
Re: Is this too offensive for a signature? sassonfool: I think the word "retarded" is not so much offensive (though it is a little) but more out-dated (like purging the mind of evil demons through shock therapy). My son has a speech delay- not too bad and it continues to get better with time, but he has a T-Shirt that says "I don't have a speech delay. Trying to speak "Stupid", your native tongue is what's slwoing me down". Maybe that's offensive- who knows?

Re: Is this too offensive for a signature? startingover: I know it's ment in jest, but I absolutely hate that quote, that and "I ride the short bus".  I'm probably a little over sensitive to it because my boys have been labeled with it by idiodic drs.  How can they make such a call after an hour of standardized testing?  Just because someone doesn't want to do what you want them to do or doesn't use speach doesn't make them retarded.  Grrr.

Ok, mama bear is off her soap box now.
Re: Is this too offensive for a signature? superwife: Okay, how can i say this without offending anyone.........

I can't.  And here's my point: everything everyone says will offend someone.  Does the OP have something against retarded people?  I'm guessing not.  Gee, we can't even use that term anymore.  it's not PC.  nothing is anymore.  The word 'retard' means slow.  Is it wrong to call someone who is menatally slow retarded ?  Yes it is.  Is it wrong to call a black person black ?  Yes it is.  So we call them "african american", whether or not they are from Africa.  Well, i know plenty of black people who are not from africa (and i don't mean those who have been here for many generations (talking about haitians, carribeans, etc).  but we can't offending them by calling them by the color of their skin.

My brother committed suicide.  Do I get offended every time someone makes a stupid suicide joke, ot uses the expression "someone put a gun to my head" ?  Nope, not any more.  But i suppose I could.  But it's not worth it.

but anyway,a good friend of mine actually quoted that phrase to me just the other day (while i was talking about ojar, and what goes on here).  I laughed.  I thought it was funny.  What can i say, it doesnt take much to make me laugh.
Re: Is this too offensive for a signature? doggstar: Yes it is, but who cares. Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution is anybody guarenteed a right to NOT be offended. so offend whoever you want.
the world has far to many cry babies in it anyway.
