I just finished reading almost everything on that site. That really scares the shit outta me because it is real and it's happening, this isn't something that's just being predicted.

In New York City alone, we have been having the warmest winter ever.
Just for the following week alone, we have temperatures staying in the mid to upper 50's!! In January?!!  **Waving a big red flag**

It might only happen every few years, but there will come a point in time where it will be frequent and then when it's becoming too late to do anything about it, the Earth is going to overheat and explode.   **Sarcasm**

[/quote">

Our winters here are more and more mild too.  Mid to upper 50's.

I don't ever remember being able to go to the park and trails in the month of December and January w/o a coat or jacket.

I sometimes forget that it really is small things that we can all do to make a difference...for instance cutting back on red meat.  If you read the link to the "What you can do" they outline how cows are the largest contributer of methane gas.  I'm also thinking of buying a Hybrid when I'm ready to buy a car in April.

On hybrids:  Look up the nature of fungible commodities

Global warming and cooling are facts of nature, long predating man, and no doubt, long surviving our passing into history as a species.  Given the levels of hysteria and pseudo-science that immediately surrounded the issue once the socialists grabbed onto the green wagon in the 1970's, it is nearly impossible to find an impartial source on either side that is not gunning for some kind of government action.

This winter is mild.  Last winter was cold.  Winter before that was super cold and super snowy.

No matter the topic, one cannot track long term effects with short term topical data.

It's hardly hysteria.  This isn't a problem that's just cyclical in nature caused by the normal process of life.  We've done a lot of damage to this planet by some very hard living without realising/thinking about the consequences.

I don't think it's necessary to worry about impartial sources.  The evidence is pretty clear all around us.  We're damaging something that isn't going to repair itself if we continue to live this way. We'll leave a legacy for our children that will be impossible to recover from.  We're not on this planet to take, we're on this planet to give and leave it a better place than what we found it.  Surely that's a social responsibility of each of us, and we don't need to be told that by anyone?  I would think it should be pretty obvious.

There's no real evidence at this point of any cause of any kind of warming, and scant real evidence of any actual long term warming.  What is "evidence" today, usually turns out to be recanted or proven as bogus a decade later.  Take everything with a grain of salt.

[quote"> I don't think it's necessary to worry about impartial sources. [/quote">

When dealing with matters of science, there is no other way to examine evidence except through impartial sources with impartial and unbiased evidence.  Anything else is a con game, no matter which side one takes.

[quote"> The evidence is pretty clear all around us.[/quote">

No, actually it's not.  What is around, is people either panicking or being told to panic by politicians wishing to get elected, or scientists looking for more government funding (or corporate funding if on the "other" side).

No evidence, and mostly fear driven panic.  The other side does the same thing as well, only for their particular viewpoint.

[quote"> Surely that's a social responsibility of each of us, and we don't need to be told that by anyone?  I would think it should be pretty obvious.

I'm all for insulating better in one's home and using alternative energy sources.  We should all strive to do that, but for better reasons than because a politician or a scientist working for a politician told us to.  Me, I think it's a great idea so we can defund the Middle East entirely, and stop bowing down to either them or politicians here who wish to enter us into wars to protect their oil crony interests.  At least those things, have some evidence backing them.  :)
