Snowboarding snkpack: I'm gonna take up snowboarding. Any tips or suggestions on equipment I'll need?

The first time I went boarding I fell and busted BOTH of my wrists... That's why I stick to skiing now...
It can be fun, but get some wrist gaurds!!!

The first 2 times I went boarding I popped my knee badly.
Never happened on skis.
Oh and long coat or your butt is going to get awfully cold. ;)
