Re: Snowboarding fkunone: As far as equipment goes (this is assuming you're buying your stuff):

[list">
[li"> Snowboard and bindings  You want one for universal use, curved on both ends, and should go about as high as your chin/nose.  Try for some hi-rise bindings in the back and a toe wedge in front.  It'll help you on your turns.  Try to get a leash on your board for your leg, just in case.  By the way, let the store install the bindings for you.[/li">
[li"> Boots[/li">
[li"> Goggles, goggle wipes[/li">
[li"> Helmet (although some people don't use them) [/li">
[li"> Warm skullcap/hat of some kind (I wear Under Armor winter gear, for my hat and first layer)[/li">
[li"> Cool tool - a small handtool w/ various screwdriver inserts (optional, you can always go to the shop and they'll fix it for you if needed). [/li">
[li"> Your layered clothes of course. (first, second and shell layer)[/li">
[li"> Snowboard socks - helps with moisture control [/li">
[li"> LIP BALM! [/li">
[li"> SUNSCREEN! [/li">
[li"> Snowboarding gloves, of course. You can go mittens, but you'll find zipping and unzipping jacket pockets and what not easier with gloves [/li">

[/list">

If you have ANY questions, I have yet to find a winter ski/snowboard shop who aren't happy to help when picking out equipment.  Have FUN!

I enjoy snowboarding thoroughly.  I just like carving.  I don't do the tricks.  I have kids to raise and all.  LOL!

Mountain.  Snow.  Breeze.  The sound of the board carving through powder.

What else is there?

Besides, much respect to snkpack and I want her first experience to be a good one.
Re: Snowboarding fkunone: ONE MORE THING (maybe) -

YOU'RE GOING TO FALL ALOT!  Don't be discouraged.  But do schedule an easy day off the next day.

The next day may be:

Ibuprofen, Gatorade, water and lots of softness (pillows, couches, etc.).  Of course, re-energize with good food as well the next day.  Try to stretch every once in awhile too.  It'll speed recovery.

And if the cute guy you ran into is also a masseuse, lucky you.
Re: Snowboarding snkpack: Awesome.  Thanks guys!  I think I'm gonna sign up for lessons with a hottie.
