I thought about this recently b/c- well if you have been reading my threads, basically my xbf contacted me recently afte 5 years of no contact. I have married and have 2 kids since. He tells me we should get married like we should have dont in the first place. But I think, it did not happen, he wanted to stick with his woman of 4 years at that time. Security i think-- anyway- we did talk about how our families would react if i got divorced and he broke off the marriage to his fiance. My response was, they would support me no matter what. His response was, i am not sure, but it is my life.
We had a lengthy discussion about what would/could happen if I divorced and he broke it off with his current fiance and we married. It was soo perfect and real 5 years ago, the relationship, but I have moved on, and knowing that he is cheating on his fiance, what a loser. Glad it is not me--
So anyway- I think it depends on your situation. Are you married and thinking about getting back with an xbf? or are you single currently? I think this has a lot to do with the way you and your family would react.

Actually, my male (cop) friends would line up with the gun, and my (nurse and paramedic) friends would do the reviving. The only one that would be happy would be my daughter :-\
Re: How would your friends and family react if you reunited with your ex? ann7906: We are trying to reconcile. His parents are thrilled, but they've got the old-world immigrant mentality. My parents want to kill him and are dead-set against us getting back together, but have decided it's better to keep their mouths shut for the time being. I think my mother believes it's only a matter of time until he breaks my heart again and she's just waiting in the background to pick up the pieces when it happens.
