Food at it's most healthiest state

Food at it's most healthiest state C-Note: They say food is best when it's not been tampered with too much.  Great chefs state the fresher the better all the time and anything else won't do.  I've also started to see a trend towards serving meats which are cooked or seared on the outside but relativiley raw in the center.

Veggies are easy to stomach raw.  I've even grown to accept veggies like Broc and Califlower raw with a little blue cheese for dipping.  Of coarse there's sushi.  I've eaten at a sushi bar that keeps a tank with their top selling delicacy swimming next to the bar.

Is there a diet already out there that preaches consuming foods with little to no intervention from harvest to plate?
Re: Food at it's most healthiest state Topaz: Sure, it's called the raw foods movement.

Re: Food at it's most healthiest state Cherry: Actually for people with stomach issues, raw veggies are not the easy to digest.  They recommend steaming or cooking them.

Red meant protiens are harder to digest than fish or chicken.

But yes, those that are relatively free of pesticides and such.  And fresh foods that have not been processed ie diet foods, sodas, or other products are better for your body.
Re: Food at it's most healthiest state C-Note: I can see steaming as an aid to digestion without taking away the items that get lost boiling.

I've found a new respect for salt lately also.  I know it's used in excess in modern foods, but a little sprinkle to add taste is ok.  People forget we need salt to live.

Now here's another angle.  Emerald, Barefoot Contesa, Rachel Ray (she's hot), and many other FoodTV celebs have demonstrated cooking with citric juices / acids from lemon, lime and even oranges.  I like this idea cause it doesn't apear to take away anything and it seems like it just adds the vitemins natural to the fruit.  Win win right?
Re: Food at it's most healthiest state Cherry: Hmmmm I dont know a lot about that.

Back to the salt issue though.  Get natural sea salt.  They have them at Walmart that come in a bottle with an attached grinder (coarse/fine settings).  It is sooooo much better for you. Do the same with your pepper.

Also if you want to, learn how to use the herbs and seasoning so that you can cut down on the salt without cutting out any of the flavor.
