Pre-Trial Settlement Conference? WTF? sassonfool: My attorney's office called today and said that our pre-trail settlement conference is on Monday. What the hell is a "pre-trial settlement conference"? Haven't I already had eighteen of these "conferences"? AGH! EGADS! >:(
Re: Pre-Trial Settlement Conference? WTF? tara: Well...the good news is, you may have a real-live final court date soon!
A pre-trial settlement conference is where you compare your settlement drafts and narrow the issues for trial. You may find you're close enough on the remaining issues to hit a compromise then and there or soon thereafter. If there aren't any issues that the judge needs to decide, then you'll be scheduled for a stipulated divorce hearing (a quick rubber stamp in no-fault states). If there are issues, a trial is scheduled and you go ahead.
You may have had a few status conferences and calendar hearings and other procedural stuff...
Re: Pre-Trial Settlement Conference? WTF? sassonfool: There's no way in hell! YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY! I might actually get divorced!!!! YAY!!!!
Re: Pre-Trial Settlement Conference? WTF? darkrose: I just handed the stbxw a settlement draft.
I could be divorced at the end of the month if she agrees to it!
