Re: Stepkids and their Role in Destruction of Your Marrage flipflopnomore: Blending a family is probably the hardest thing to do in a marriage. I heard this before stbxh and I got married but didn't listen. I thought that we would be one of the smart ones!!! HA. Its tough.
First you have the love of your kids, love of your stepkids and love of your spouse. I think it would be really hard to love your stepkids like you love your own. I loved my stepkids, but they were not my bio kids. I have not raised them from babies. They have a mom who loves them, so I just tried to be more of thier friend.
Oh, and when there are kids involved there is always an ex spouse that never goes away. BM and I got along pretty well, but there were issues from time to time.
Oh, then there is the kids who quickly figure out how to conquer and divide. Most smart stepparents won't let this happen, but it causes chaos in a marriage.
