8 katbuttkid: We used to dance
I liked that about us
You'd sway, I'd sway
you'd jitterbug, I'd swing
you'd box step, I'd waltz
you'd disco, I'd polka
you'd tap and I'd toe
Together we would octpus
my two arms
your two arms
your two legs
my two legs
all eight appendages
intertwined,
intermixed and enmeshed
We got all tangled up dancing together
like a wig thrown in the dryer
When you were bad
I rewarded you
I wanted you to feel better
So I touched and cooed
and babied
my slippery arms wandered around you
my tentacled legs grabbed you
kept you near, kept you safe
soothed.
You got lost a lot, became bad
I think you liked me
seeking you out.
I think you liked being found
I think you wanted bring in
being babied
I think you wanted the spectacle
like the semblance of a hair ball
that was once a hairstyle
Our dance began to look more like
an accident on the roadside
We moved together
the same dance as always
you'd sway, I'd sway
and all eight embraced each other
and what would be
And sometimes it was violent.
That wasn't really me
I don't think it was really you
It was the nature of the dance
and wanting free of the sticky creature
that held so tight
but loving the beast at the same time
We didn't realize we could always
Just stop dancing
Instead, we spun in circles
We became siamese twins
ala octopi
It got us nowhere fast.
In the long run
all that dancing
got us divorced
but it was beautiful while it lasted
until it wigged out
and I have to say
it got me here
so it was worth it.
