That's a pretty negative outlook. From what I understand, the opinion of the courts has been changing, especially during recent years, and the mother doesn't always win. As a soon to be ex-husband, I am hoping for a more favorable outcome for myself, and I don't like to read stuff like that.

I've heard rumblings that they're considering slight changes, but so far have seen nothing to that effect. God knows I've asked enough lawyers.
A friend of mine is getting a divorce. His "wife" filed first, then locked the doors, changed the locks, etc. She was having an affair, ok, but not just an affair, but an affair with a guy who turns out to be later imprisoned for murder (this is quite recently), and she knew he was up on charges, brought her kids over to his home anyway. So then he's in jail, and she starts seeing an accused rapist, you know, upgrading a bit, and brings her kids over, fully knowing he's accused of such. So he was convicted, and she's still visiting him in prison. So she's got all that, right. Husband is captain boy scout, owns his own successful business, is a spectacular father very active in their kid's lives, and he has HER MOTHER, HER FATHER, HER BROTHERS and HER PASTOR all filing letters in the court attesting to her being loopy and endangering the children, he has paperwork brought in from when she left the kids (the oldest one is 5 years old) alone in the house while she traveled, via car, to go pick up one of her convict beaus (the cops had to enter the home at the call of the father who was quite alarmed seeing the kids there and her car not in the driveway and found the kids alone). Her pastor is recommending she see a shrink, because he fears she's displaying signs of being bi-polar and is a danger to her children. All of this.
Guess what is going to happen in custody. Take three guesses, and the first two won't count.
I really hope you're right, but at least in my state, if you've got testicles, you're outta luck.

I'll keep you posted. But the outcome of the custody hearing wasn't promising, despite her lack of any kind of legal support and him having reams of valid filed information. But hey, she made cow eyes, so now it's 'well, we'll have to review this'.
I hope you're right. Believe me, I really really do. If so, since this is in my state, it may change how I approach my own situation considerably. But I'm not betting against it just yet.
