All that said I do know a relationship like the one that she walked out on will never be possible between us again. Her last words to me "I know you could never trust me again". That's true and realistically I guess the choice was obvious. Stay in a broken relationship never being trusted again or continue with the new one hopefully learning from your past.
If we could be civil and be friends then maybe steps could be taken for me to begin forming some kind of relationship with my daughter. That's all I would want. That's all I believe I want.

Believe it or not, I do understand your situation, albeit from the opposite side of the coin. I'm not really sure what to tell you here. Do you want to be involved in your daughter's life? If you do, do you have any idea what that involvement would look like?
The fact that you're still carrying the torch for your ex complicates things. You could be opening Pandora's box if you pursue this.

Thanks for taking the time to dig for the big picture. My first post on Ojar sums up everything. I guess to my own credit I'm no longer confused with my feelings about my ex. Our time as man and woman is over both in fact and in my head.
