Had a couple of songs make me cry today... Matt: Man... Today sucks...
Here I am second week in a new apartment, unpacking, preparing for a hurricane, and decide to drive to the CVS pharmacy and get a prescription filled just in case we get a major hit from the storm.
I hop in the jeep, light up a cigarette, and start heading to the pharmacy.. I turn on the radio to get the latest on the storm ( a country station no less ). A song comes on called "whiskey lullaby" by Allison Krause. Damn, it wasn't 30 seconds and I had to put my sunglasses on cause I was pouring out tears and didn't want anyone else to see me like that. Jesus, I haven't cried in over a month and here I am dropping tears in my lap like a bad roof leak... :-\
I get a hold of myself and ( sunglasses still on ) go into the pharmacy and get my prescription. Buy a few other things, and head out to the jeep and head back to the house.. I no sooner turn on the radio and a song on the same country station I could have sworn I changed comes on " I hope you dance " , I think it was.. Shit , here I was crying again.....Worse than before.... :'(
Random Attack Crying?!? What the hell is that all about??!! Man, even for a dyed in the wool, grew up in Texas guy like me, its darn near enough to make me stop listening to country music altogether..
I thought I was over that phase... I guess not...
I guess another thing thats really killing me is missing my little, bobtailed black cat, "junior"... I have always hated cats, but he was a little orphaned kitten I brought home a couple of years ago. ( I have a big soft spot for animals - especially those in need ) He acted just like a dog. He could fetch, sit, never failed to meet me at the door when I came home, slept at the foot of my bed, etc.. She took him when she moved out. I miss that little guy...
I guess I'm just lonely. Any of you guys had this happen to you?

I hope you dance does it to me everytime ... but I am such a glutton for punishment that once I read your post I had to go and download it and now I am listening ;D
If it makes you feel any better, the song is aimed to her children ... but oddly enough, it makes me think about STBX as well.
Songs do it to me ALL the time, but like I said earlier, sometimes I purposely listen to sad songs. It is getting better though because I can listen to some songs which had me bawling a month ago, now without shedding a tear.

Well "feeder bands" have been passing overhead all day. The worst will be in the next 24-48hrs... But, as of now it looks like i'll be spared the brunt of it. ( i hope )Its "predicted" to hit north of here, but we'll see..
Thank you so much for your reply, it actually makes me feel better knowing someone else has had this happen. I havent cried in a while ( at least a month ). Maybe because I've been running on adrenaline, and anger..
I was just shocked that it happened almost immediately when those 2 songs came on. I wasn't even thinking about her, the divorce, anything... I don't know if you've heard that "whisket lullaby" song , but holy smokes, It'll rip your heart out. I mean, here I am, a 34 yr old 6'3, 240lb man driving my jeep to a pharmacy and i'm spilling tears out of my eyes like a little kid ( complete with the "hucka-hucka" breathing and all..)
Maybe it's my heart doing spring cleaning.
By the way, I read your "letter to the ex" a few minutes ago.. The damn thing got my eyes tearing again!! Argh... Seriously, that was a beautiful letter. Especialy the part about your daughter on the slide, grilling hamburgers, and snuggling and tucking in your babies.. Thats special Kelly, my hats off to you for being a strong, loving mom... Really.. :-*
And here I am crying over a couple of songs, and a little black cat.....

I don't think you can win either way. I get told in so many words that I don't cry enough. Sometimes I wished I could cry more.
Worst of all... I can't seem to make myself at the most opportune times (like in my car alone). The last time I cried was in a business meeting for no apparent reason... :-\ Here I was the only female in this meeting... bawling my face off (hucka huckas and all) trying to act normal like I wasn't upset. While My boss and other co-workers (all men) didn' know what to do with them selves.... and in all honesty... I don't know what to do either. Once it started it couldn't stop.
I think crying is good... when not at work. ;)
