You don't know that. Some media would have you believe that she was trying to kidnap and murder, though. Come on, Plus, you're too smart to be brainwashed by the media. Innocent until proven guilty, remember?

It's a bit of an assumption to believe most people cheat. Sociological studies are a bit skewed on this and many topics of sexuality. But that's another debate. I do agree that it's no end of fun to watch people get worked up about this though.

Well, you're right. It is a bit of an assumption. I haven't conducted official surveys or anything, but I'd say the majority of relationships have some sort of infidelity involved.
Yeah, the it cracks me up that this story is leading the nightly news. It happens every day!

It seems pretty clear cut. Not all is a conspiracy. Besides, the cheating is a known. I don't have much sympathy for somebody that abandons not only their spouse but their own children to get a little piece of action on the side. Sorry, that's just my position, and I don't feel particularly sorry for this ho-bag whether she ends up convicted or not, she's already done wrong to way too many innocent people without a care in the world for anybody but herself, she can stew in her own bile for all I care.

Ah, never heard that before, lol! I learned something new today. :)

We're always told about the lives of those in government well before we're informed of the lives of the plebians. It's the way things have become. In this case I think it's funny as all getout.

Gotta side with the mob on this one Batman. Self-serving dipshit gets a little taste of what she's been dishing out and I'm sposed to feel bad?
[/quote">
LOL. No. You're not supposed to feel bad. I don't feel bad for her, other than she's got a billion people watching her story. Can you imagine going through that? Can you imagine your divorce being on the news every night?
Nope, I just feel .. well .. empowered ... justified ... smarter than society... something ... that the world is all shocked and suprised that cheating causes people to do crazy things. I mean we've been having this kind of drama for thousands of years, and here this story is STILL getting front page headlines.
Is what she did really all that different than how half of us acted when we found out we were cheated on? Some of us comitted violence. Most of us thought about it. I mean, come on! Human beings just react that way. That's what 3/4 of the fights in high school are about! There have been countless REAL MURDERS over the same sh1t.
Why are we so interested? Well ... it's because society is lying to itself. Cheating is rampant in our culture, but we act all shocked when it happens.

Now that I stand back and look at it as you've presented it here, I see your original point, and it's a valid one. Good call.
I'm not sure if it's hypocricy so much as people are simply bored and looking for excitement. Newspapers and democracies both work best when there's something "wrong" that attracts the attention of the masses, so to speak, so it's not surprising to see this kind of reaction really. We live in a tyranny of boredom, when it comes down to it.

yes, I am. She was cheating on her husband and didn't care about how it impacted her husband or children. Screw her.

That's about it right there.
[quote"> Sorry, but I'm kind of enjoying the public recognizing that even our elite go nuts when it comes to OPP.[/quote">
She's not elite. Being an astronaut doesn't make one elite. They're smart to a degree, but not as smart as the engineers who designed their spacecraft. They're competent to a degree, yes, but not as competent as, say, a decent neurosurgeon. In fact, all they have is a government badge on their suit and an assurance of political correctness. No offense to astronauts on the whole, I think they're generally in a cool job and aren't bad types, but they aren't the cream of the cream by any stretch.
But, the media will focus on this, and I say, good. Because it brings down NASA in people's eyes, and that alone is a good thing.
[/quote">
Sorry, CA, this is just plain wrong. The woman is an engineer, twice over. Additionally, you discount the true talent and skill it takes to rise to the rank of Captain in the United States Navy. There are countless engineers, neurosurgeons, and fighter pilots that do not even attain the rank Commander in their 20+ year careers.
I think her behavior, while inexcusable, may very well have mitigating circumstances and I think that the most negative posters here are likely enjoying a bit of schadenfreude.
I do have compassion for this woman. She has destroyed her life and caused untold grief to her family. I cannot imagine that this was done callously and purposely, but, rather, it was the result of a psychological breakdown.
