Batman vs. Jokers
.

Batman vs. Jokers Batman: Someone said something to me a few weeks ago that I've been pondering, and I think it's true.

"People who tell jokes constantly are just hiding their problems."

The person just said it in passing, but I've been thinking about it a lot.

I used to joke around about EVERYTHING.  And, I'm quite a funny guy ... if I do say so myself.  Lately, however, I've noticed that when I'm joking, I'm usually doing it to cover up some other issue.

Now, there are a LOT of comedians on OJAR.  (Should I name names?)  Do you Ojarians think that all the jokers on Ojar are just hiding behind the laughter?

I'm starting to think that being really funny isn't so funny afterall.

Re: Batman vs. Jokers smokin: you b*stard.. how could you tell the "comedian alliances" #1 rule, of not telling our secret?

looking for verse to have batman banned for life  ;D

i know theres going to be huge dissagreement on it, but i would have to say YES. i (when occassionally funny) do use laughter, and jokes to forget about things that are going on in my life, and things that have happened.

is it a good way to get over and around things? i think so. is it the correct way? not sure.

good post though.........
Re: Batman vs. Jokers superwife: I thought this was going to be a thread about who we like better: you or The Joker :D

OK, there I am, being funny.  Does that mean I am hiding behind some emotion?  Generally speaking, no.  I just think of myself as a funny and sarcastic person.  When I am upset, stressed, worried, pissed off or anything but in a good mood, I think it shows in my posts.  When I feel like that, I either don't participate in the silly threads, or just don't post at all.

I can't say this is so for everyone.  After all JMD admitted to it.  I just think some people just have different personalities.

I think it's easy to apply pop psychology to anything in order to justify feeling a certain way about another's personality or position.

This isn't to say there isn't validity in the idea you put forward, however that doesn't mean that anybody who jokes all the time is hiding bigger issues.  I've been this bizarre in the humor area long before I had marriage or life problems in general, it's just a personality facet.  My son, whose life thus far has been pretty much devoid of serious stress, has the same sense of humor and need to inject it everywhere.  So does my dad, who had a pretty good life all things considered.  I think it's just a behavorial thing passed down through close contact in the family over time a lot of the time.

Could some people be using constant humor as a way to cover up other things?  Sure, quite likely there are lots that do this.  Do most people who joke all the time have deeper issues they're covering with their humor?  Not necessarily.
