Re: Batman vs. Jokers alonewith2: This could be me, but since I'm not very funny I don't think it applies.
Re: Batman vs. Jokers thejoker: I make jokes because it's my job to spread some humor and a smile.
That's why I am on this planet. I can't stand to see someone unhappy when they could be smiling. Even if it's just for a second. I live my life through smiles and laughter. Not neccessarily anyone else's either. My old tag was "I crack myself up" It's true I make myself laugh more than anyone. If you laugh too, that's cool. If not.. I tried.
I think the a better general statement to cover the "Jokers" on here is some of us just happen to have a lighter sense of humor about things. We can see something humorous in someone else's rather dour situation. The humor isn't always appreciated or someone's sense of humor differs from someone elses. but over all.. it is all perspective. I think it's funny.. I'm going to laugh about it. I am going to try to show someone else the humor I see in it.
Sorta like someone venting "UGH I don't want to go to work today"
and my reply "at least they let you wear pants"
silly, inane... slightly random.. but it's funny.. maybe someone cracked a smile, gave a snicker, or even a chorttle. The point is.. I'm not hiding some great hurt.. I'm the Joker.
minus the green hair and pancake makeup
Re: Batman vs. Jokers snkpack: I wonder if my desire to be named as one of the (gasp) comedians means I'm an attention whore. ::)
(Heads down to the What's New on Ojar board to suggest dropping the Jokes board off Ojar.)

"People who tell jokes constantly are just hiding their problems."
I used to joke around about EVERYTHING. And, I'm quite a funny guy ... if I do say so myself. Lately, however, I've noticed that when I'm joking, I'm usually doing it to cover up some other issue.
Now, there are a LOT of comedians on OJAR. (Should I name names?) Do you Ojarians think that all the jokers on Ojar are just hiding behind the laughter?
I'm starting to think that being really funny isn't so funny afterall.

I wouldn't say I hide behind it. I use it to cope. Often times I make fun of the issue directly. I think it's important to be able to laugh at yourself some. That being said, I often drive my SO nuts because she doesn't feel I take things seriously enough. It's a blessing and a curse I spose.

Humor has NO place in this forum. This is a place to discuss serious matters only. And that's all I am going to say about it.
