Re: Generalizations and frozen foods Temporary: [quote"> Screw feminist bs.........[/quote">
We all know your take on this.
It's not feminist bs. I am a single parent and I've had to learn to do things on my own. There's no one here to do them for me.
When someone asks me what's going on with me and I tell them, should I just say "ok, you can talk to me like a child" just because he's a man and that's what they do? WTF. It's not feminism. It's not wanting every conversation to turn into a friggin lecture.
Re: Generalizations and frozen foods Spike: Lecturing is not my strong point, but hey, I can appreciate a single mom, who can fix her own lights. Way to go. As far as them not listening, throw in a couple of heavy swear words, and that should silence them while you talk.
Re: Generalizations and frozen foods Temporary: I vent here, but I rarely say anything ugly when I'm getting lectured or whatever..because I know it's with good intentions that I'm getting told how to do what I've been doing for years. It just burns my biscuits. I try to give off the "you can shut up now" vibe...it works maybe one out of ten times.
I just have to let off the steam here or I'll explode.
I better stop before I'm accused of being a feminist because I had to learn how to take care of myself when my ex-husband threw me off a couch with my leg in a brace. Silly me. (insert girly laugh here)
Re: Generalizations and frozen foods Spike: :-X
Re: Generalizations and frozen foods 2be: God I appreciate a woman who can take care of herself. Nothing sexier than a woman that can fix her own car ;) I know you are generalizing but within that generalization I need to add that not all men are the "shut up and let me tell you how to do it" types.
Yes, I think men inherently are "fixers" rather than talkers. I am. When I see a problem I want to fix it... and it's taken me a LONG time to remove that fixit urge when it comes to my SO's issues. While I never told her she was wrong, I DID always want to fix the situation for her, and I got burned for it many times.
Just understand that guys are wired to be "fixers." Some with good intent and some are jerks that put you down.
Oh and putting your food outside? Stupid idea. ;)
