OK. I'm obsessed. Granted. But what does that mean? How do I begin to rid myself of this obsession? Which piece of the recovery puzzle have I left out?

Re: 7 months, and I still can't let go. wizer_now: I wish I had the answer for you ML. I'm an obsessive personality myself. I get my mind on something, I can't let it go.

Time, talk therapy and meds. What else is there?
Re: 7 months, and I still can't let go. hope: I feel just about the same way, and it's been more than seven months here.

Feel embarrassed to say this to my friends.  And when I get over the embarrassment and do tell them, most of the time they don't seem to get it.  I suppose they mean well, but I think it's hard for them to grasp the intensity of it and they just don't feel it.  Or they don't know what to say anymore.
Re: 7 months, and I still can't let go. Batman: Three years for me, and I can honestly say that I don't obsess anymore.  There's light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's what I learned.  The harder I tried to "fix myself" by doing all this extra stuff (working out every day, volunteering, etc.) was GOOD, but some of it just added stress!  I mean, that list of things you did would stress out anybody.

I cut out some of that stuff, and now I spend some time goofing off.  Sounds simple, but try it!  Instead of bowling league one night, just go to the movies.  Or instead of dating all the time, just go for a walk.

Here's another secret:  Take a day off from work (I consider "mental health days" to be sick days) and just goof off.    I do this every couple of months and just give myself a long weekend for no reason.  Works wonders!
