Re: Instant Gratification pluscachange: There's a great joy in simply slowing down and taking time to enjoy life or take things as they come. If you want to really get out of the rush:
1. Pay off your bills (that you can) and be as debt free as possible.
2. Get rid of your cell phone. Yes yes, we have children, but how did mom and dad manage to raise us without one of those electronic leashes? They did, ya' know.
3. Reduce internet time.
4. Try not to pay attention to those around you exhibiting assholio behavior. It's hard at first but over time you can learn to pretty much filter them out, or at most feel some sympathy for the lack of control they have in their lives.
5. Live within your means, always, even if it means delaying spending. This is a biggie, delaying gratification can actually be more satisfying that having everything now now now.
At least this is what I do, or try to do.
As to having sex too early, you may be right. One should never, ever have sex before 7 am in the morning. Word.

...all these time-saving inventions are turning us into impatient and intolerant people.

It's also turned us into a bunch of whining wimps. We don't have to put our blood, sweat and tears into anything anymore. Everything that we used to work for has been made cheap and readily available.
