Forever pluscachange: Forever
The cold distance in between
seconds ticking on the clock
time once you would have
wanted to be held in my arms
now distant and painfully blurred
by wine soaked memories
of suffering by the window alone
on summer’s midnight
memories of you and I
sitting on a cloth in the grass
on a spring day as bright
as your smile once was
no longer is
feeling your hand brush mine
we ate bread wrapped
in a white towel
drank sparkling happiness
and spoke of days to come
as if the future was for both of us
and not just one
and I believed you
and still I believe you and
know your absence is
the intention and the reason
for laying with my head
on the hard cold table
as time passes in the darkness
and my soul smolders
in ashes of despair
soon to extinguish
