Re: Qualities to avoid like the plague in the future Percy123: That is too funny and you are exactly right.  When you get involved, everyone has this game face on and you can use up a couple of years not really knowing the deep personality of someone.  Took many for me and I bet everyone would say if I only knew then what I know now!  I guess I have become pickier because of this list.  I am observant for traits like these.  Maybe why I am still single but I think there is someone who can have only one or two of those, and I could live with that.
Re: Qualities to avoid like the plague in the future MEP2006: Is anyone else hyper-vigilant now as a result of encountering these traits in their ex's? I am. I can't seem to relax. If I sense even one tiny speck of narcissism, I freak and I'm gone. Weird, eh?

Re: Qualities to avoid like the plague in the future crushedman: My X had all of these to greater or lesser degrees.  However, I But the big one that I should have spotted from the start is that she is/was unwilling to admit when she's wrong.  No matter what, there is a justification, minimization, or blame.  And even in the RARE case that she admitted she was in the wrong, one apology was enough for her FOREVER (no matter how big the mistake).  So add lack of humility as a terrible quality.

She also had some great qualities.

Re: Qualities to avoid like the plague in the future yella: I think everyone has at least one of these traits. If they say no, they're lying.  ;)

My ex had many of these, and I know I have at least one. It makes us human.
