To the person who stole my backpack Topaz: I hope that you get some use out of it. I never thought anyone would want to steal it, and certainly its contents aren't much.
I bought it at a street fair when I was with my boyfriend. Come to think of it, he might have even bought it for me. Well, that's another reminder that I owe him some money - he didn't ask for it back, but I want to wipe the slate clean with him. When I saw the backpack, I thought, what a cool bag. Over the years, I've gotten a lot of compliments about it.
I was planning on getting a new cell phone. Maybe not this soon. The appointment book was sort of tough to lose, especially since I had a job interview today and I couldn't remember the person's name that I was meeting with. The people at my bank were supernice about canceling all my checks left in my check book, and putting an alert out on them, so better think twice about using them.
A while ago, losing something like this would have bugged me. I would have let it take over my life. But now I keep remembering a story that my parents read to me when I was a kid - a poor family in China finds a wild horse, and everyone says to them, "What good luck!" And so their son starts riding the horse and because it's wild, he gets thrown off the horse and he breaks his leg. And everyone says to the poor family, "What bad luck!" And the next day, the army comes to enlist all the young men in that particular town to go to war, all the young men, except for the poor boy with the broken leg..."What good luck!"
So you might be riding the cycle of luck with your "new" suede backpack and your "new" cell phone. Rock on with your bad self!

I was at work and someone took it out of my desk. It's creepy to think about it, because you have to go through tight security to get on to my floor.
