Re: Heading For Bankruptcy Freckles: You have to get a Lawyer to go Bankrupt.

Also put all your Bills in there.

If you leave any out it will not be counted.

It stays on your record 10 years

But, after about 8 years they will start sending you Credit Cards.
(I don't know why , they dont send me more Credit Cards ?  )

nope, it stays on your credit report for 7, and after about 2-3 years you start getting secured credit card offers.

Re: Heading For Bankruptcy Temporary: Sorry Wishing, it is 10 years that a bankruptcy shows up on your credit report.  The crappy part is that you're never really rid of it.

You're right, did this change with the new bankruptcy laws? I just looked it up and I coulda swore when my ex roommate filed he was told it was 7 years (this was about 10 years ago, so who knows)..
Re: Heading For Bankruptcy Temporary: No, it's always been 10 years.  Regular credit issues stay on 7 years.  I'm sure that you're friend was given bad info.  A large number of bankruptcy "attorneys" are just massive offices full of paralegals and don't always know their stuff.

I don't wanna get all geeky...I've been in the bankruptcy field for eight years now.  It just never goes away.  Check out a standard credit application - they all ask about previous bankruptcies.  And the creditors burned during a case will almost always label an revolving account as 'bankrupt' on a credit report.
