Why it hurts more early in the morning? MM_02: I wake up every morning sweating, confused, and rushing heart beat, it feels like a panic attack, afterward I can’t go back to sleep. Later in the day it gets better. I don’t understand why that is? Is their any physiological explanation why it hurts more early in the morning?
Re: Why it hurts more early in the morning? missu: Must be because the mental processes that take place when you sleep. Dreams, and just the processing of daily information, in which of course is included the pain that you're going through.
Also, it must be because when you wake up and think about the day ahead of you, you know she won't be in any part of it. I know because this is what used to bring me down early in the morning when I woke up.
Re: Why it hurts more early in the morning? lifeunexpected: I'm the same way. The mornings are awful. That's when it hits me the most. As the day progresses, I become less depressed, and by the time night comes, I'm pretty normal.
Re: Why it hurts more early in the morning? wizer_now: I can't tell you why the mornings are worse, but I can second or third the posts above that agree that the mornings are definitely the worst, and with anxiety and depression it's a known fact.
The best thing you can do is get out of bed, first thing in the morning, rather than lay there suffering while the intrusive thoughts relentlessly circulate inside your head.
I'm sure you find that once you get up and around, your perspective changes, even if ever so slightly, and things look somewhat better.
Re: Why it hurts more early in the morning? tryingtosmile: This happens to me too. I think our bodies have a natural fight/flight reaction to the pain we are experiencing. It is programmed into our brains. So, when you go to sleep at night, your body shuts down, but as soon as you wake up, and "remember", it turns on that natural fight/flight reaction...which explains the heart acceleration etc. It is just your body remembering that it needs to be in that mode to protect yourself from the pain. :-\ I know, it sucks..but I do think it is something that gets better in time.
