That could easily be explained by the fact that you are simply not used to a treadmill workout and you are most likely using different muscles in different ways than usual. Obviously you were accomplishing something if you found it necessary to quit before you burned the usual number of calories and covered your usual distance.
In addition, you CANNOT take the results from these machines as fact. They can be way off in regard to reported calories and distance. Try doing a similar workout on various treadmills in your gym, or in hotels on vacation...I have, and I have found an incredible variation in the results as reported by the machine, even though I know I exerted a similar amount of time and and energy during each workout.
