Re: Anyone on sleeping pills? tripny2k6: I take Serequil. Sorry if I misspelled that. AKA, Queitapine. I used to have some pretty bad dreams about Iraq, now I'm out like a light and I dont even take it ever night. I try not to take it if I feel really sleepy and save the potency for when I've had a REALLY stressful day and I'm all jacked up.

Every night for the past 2-3 years. Not good for you but I have real trouble sleeping without it. I just take an over the counter sleeping aid. I haven't tried any prescription stuff. It seems to put me to sleep straight through.

Over the counter stuff hasnt worked for me in years.
I was taking 8 tylenol sleep which has 25mg of the sleep aid, and it does nothing for me. I wish OTC stuff worked for me...

Dude thats way too much acetominiphen......can really damage your liver. FYI--benadryl is the same ingredient that they put in tylenol pm but doesnt have the pain reliever. Better off. ALthough now it doesnt work for you so I suppose thats a moot point.
Lots of people react oddly to sleep aids. Moreso Ambien than Lunesta or Sonata though.
Ive tried em all.......you name it Ive tried it. None of them work for me. Ambien used to, a long, long time ago. Recently tried Trazadone....didnt do jack. I find if I double up on Ativan it will make me drowsy, and I have my doctors approval to do so. But it doesnt help me sleep through the night and you can develop a tolerance so I try not to do it too often.
As for not being able to sleep once you go off a sleep aid...thats because they have a half-life. You will probably experience sleeplesness for a week or two before going back to normal, if youre lucky.
I really wish I didnt know all of this. Have had massive insomnia for a long time now. Friggin blows. My Arch Nemesis.
Good Luck Insomniacs.
ETA- As for an herbal remedy, try Valerian Root or Melatonin. Both are for sleeplesness.
Re: Anyone on sleeping pills? flipflopnomore: Be careful with the ativan. My ex is addicted to Rx drugs. But he is prescribed by his drug dealing doctor lorazapam which is the same as ativan I believe. Highly addictive if not monitored.
Re: Anyone on sleeping pills? trapped: I hear ya. Very careful. I really trust my MD's. Theyve improved my quality of life a great deal since Ive become ill. Sorry about your ex. Is he on sub to get off of them? SOrry for the hijack.
Re: Anyone on sleeping pills? smokin: try viagra. that way you have something else to occupy your time with, if you cant sleep! lol.
i have tried everything also, except ambien, and the others. i have tried trazadone(which didnt do sheyat) and melatonin(worked great for 3 days or so, then quit).
the only thing i have found is cardisidiprol which is a muscle relaxer. if i take 1.5 of them, in about 10 minutes you go night night.
however, i cannot remember the last dream i had. now you talk about it, its been atleast 6 months or more since i had a dream, and im sleeping horrible. i cant get to sleep at night, and when i wake up, im still massively tired. there seems to be no end to it. ugh.
