Do NOT be fooled by this b/c you CAN get child support even w/ this arrangement. I was fooled... ::) so now if I remarry or live with another man my support stops cold. Stupid ex! >:(

Re: joint custody and child support? darkrose: There's a few different types of joint custody. Joint custody really only means you work together to make decisions about how to handle issues related to the child(ren). For example, who his/her/their doctor will be, stuff like that. It's also called "shared parental responsibility".
I have a "joint" arrangement with my stbxw by court order. Basically, she only gets him every Friday night and keeps him every other weekend until Sunday evening. This is still called "joint custody" because we make the decisions about my son's well being together. My rules at my house are her rules for him at her house (or are supposed to be, I don't know if this is the case).
Anyway, so yeah, what Atl has is called "True split custody". That'd never work in my case (and it's what the stbxw wants) because my son acts out pretty badly after a stay at his mother's house.

JadedButtafly: well as the case stands he may not see them a lot, 1 considering he's sitll active duty navy and plans to be for the next 8 yrs and two he lives in Sc and we live in WV .... just didn't want him to try and wiggle his way out of taking care of the kids!
