Re: The "most powerful woman in the world" off to see a terrorist sponsoring state snkpack: Well if she had the ego to dub herself "the most powerful woman in the world", she is probably arrogant enough to believe that one visit from her will solve a multi-year struggle. The odds are against an immediate pay-off, but like Lumpy said, could it really hurt to try?

And while it is somewhat distasteful that she has dubbed herself this, I'm struggling to come up with a woman who currently holds as much power as she does...

But her postition does allow and even requires her to do exactly what she just did, as far as her trip to Syria.
What scares you so much about talking to people who don't agree with us, WP? We have sat at the table REPEATEDLY with the Palestinians under Democratic AND Republican administrations (and I don't think you can deny that THEY are a terrorist state), what makes the Syrians any different?
Pax Americana isn't working. Maybe it's time for a different approach.

Not only that, but like her or hate her, she's a very effective politician. If anyone can make some headway here she can.
