I am really tired of being single. My_farm: Divorced 2 years. Went through divorce recovery and lots of personal counseling.
I am over the divorce, but being single sucks even during the best of times.
I am dating, but getting tired of just buying women dinner only to find out
that there is not enough chemistry. I screen my dates ahead of time pretty well.
I would never take my X back. It seems like I am just surviving waiting for a new love to appear. I have a great stable career and make good $, it often seems like I am just going through the motions waiting for something bad
to happen to me (hurricane to destroy house, car to fall apart, terrorism to get laid off etc).
I have many hobbies/distractions, but they are no substitute for the emptiness inside.
I made a bad mate selection in choosing my X, but knowing what love feels like really makes it tough to be alone.

Re: I am really tired of being single. Percy123: I know how you feel exactly. I have been dating off and on for about 4 years. I have had some relationships in there but none fit just right. The feelings you have come and go. Sometimes it is fun and nice to meet new chicks. Sometimes you want the comfort and familiariy of your woman.
Keep plugging. The thing about dating is the good one is right around the next corner. Keep your standards high, be picky. Do not settle. Kick some tires and take a lot of test drives.
You are getting the chance to make a good choice on a partner this time. Use this chance well.
You got the wrong view. You are not waiting for a disaster, you are waiting for something special. Picking someone to swap fluids for the rest of your days isn't and easy task.....
Don't forget to enjoy your singleness a bit while it is here. It took me a while to dig mine. Lot of freedom in it. Do the things you like in spades. Be reckless. Do things that might kill you, cause you don't have to worry.
Stay out too late and get too drunk. A day will come when your leash is pulled again but for now go piss on every tree you find.

Re: I am really tired of being single. Temporary: I'm on Percy's band wagon. Being single is lonely sometimes, but it's a beautiful thing once you get your groove and start enjoying yourself. I hope you reach that point in the very near future, My_farm.

But seriously, are you perhaps trying too hard?? I was there (not buying girls dinner :D), but really trying to make each one 'the one'. And as luck would have it, when I finally calmed down, it happened for me. Maybe the performance anxiety was gone.
How exactly are you 'screening' them?
Maybe start out with a cup of coffee, or a trip to the soda shop (I just had to put that, but you know what I mean, like Ice cream or a walk on the water or something)?
