I thought back to my "first love" from 2nd grade and I had to laugh, especially after one of the OJAR discussions about how our "wish list" for our prospective partners had changed so much as a result of time, break ups, etc. I really liked Robert back when I was 7 because he had a really big, flat head shaped like the state of Nevada, large, large buck teeth and red hair. I had this idea that he was Puff the magic dragon who had been turned into a boy! He always saved me a seat in the reading circle and I always hit him over the head with my book as my way of showing my affection.

Lia and I are going on our first date on February 11th. We are meeting about halfway between our homes (she gets off work early on Fridays and I'm taking the afternoon off) and having some dinner...maybe a little dancing and lots of talking. Then, the following weekend she is coming with me to my daughters dance competition and I will spend the rest of the weekend with her. We already have two more dates in the preliminary plan mode as we live 150 miles apart (I know, much less than some of you hookups) so we need to plan out a little bit.
The emails and calls continue and we've had some very lovely, long converstions...including the last one all about politics of all things. ISO...you'll be happy to know she is also a liberal!
Songbird...I don't remember ever getting hit over the head with a book by this girl but I must have been hit by something. ;-)

Well, the Feb 11 date has been changed to Feb 19. She has some family stuff she wants to do this weekend so she asked if I mind changing it. Naturally I said no problem. So now, she is coming with me to my daughters dance competition and then we'll have a lunch date. She is going to see if her stbx will keep the kids that night so we can do more adult type stuff...hit a club or something.
I told her that since I've waited a month for the date I could wait another week or so. She laughed and said "a month?" Then I had to correct myself..."Ok, years more like it"! She giggled cuz that is exactly what she meant.
More updates as the situation develops...lol...sounds like a newscast!

I exchanged emails with a former love (unrequited) and he asked me to call him, but I got the message too late and he was gone. He got his feelings hurt because he wanted us to talk on his birthday, and so our emails have kind of trailed off, much to my dismay. Oh well... maybe he'll get over it & write again sometime.
Anyway, it's neat that it does work out sometimes. Your story really made me smile. :D
