And all was right with the world..... Rainking: Well after being on the brink of divorce 4 days ago after a very bad counseling session....
Things have turned around like no other. We were supposed to not see each other for one week, that lasted all of about 4 hours. Yesterday she told me "I love you". After 6 months of no feelings, and one month separated...those words meant more than anything I may have heard in my life.
We're taking it slow, she's planning to move back in within the next 3 weeks or so.
She told me this is what drew her closer:
I gave her the space she needed (this was very hard). At first I kept bugging her about coming back. I finally stopped doing that, and it has helped tremendously. I gave her support when she needed it, and backed off when she didn't. I intend to do this both now and when she moves back in.
I started getting involved with things I hadn't before. I became very involved with the kids both alone and with her. Also, taking care of my own business (paying bills, doing laundry for both me and the kids, etc), we both feel better that we aren't relying on the other for everything. I pretty much became her best friend.
I apologized for the bad things that happened in the past. I pointed a couple of things out I felt bad about to her, and she pointed out "this is the first time you've ever apologized for anything like that".
It's still a ways to go, but we're on the right path now. I thought I would share with you guys what may have helped turn it around. I wouldn't wish the hurt that me and anyone else here has had to go through on my worst enemy, and I feel for anyone having to deal with an unwanted divorce/separation.
This site is doing great things in peoples lives, and the folks here are awesome. Thanks for helping me though such a rough time.
